G.W. Linderoth
 

G. W.  Linderoth was born in Umeå, Sweden 23rd November 1816 and  died 25th Aprl 1871. On 28/5/1844 he took over the Malmstrom store at Drottninggatan 28, Stockholm. This building was finally pulled down in 1968.

He began by producing pocket watches, pendulum clocks and wall clocks.
In 1860 he received the first order for a station clock and  it was the beginning of a long and successful production of Tower clocks.

Betty Linderoth continued to run the company after her husband's death in 1871, as she was a skilled watchmaker, learned of her father J.T. Cedergren. Betty died 10/12/1900
Their Son Johan G. Linderoth took over management of the company in 1872.
The company finally closed in 1963.

GW Linderoth's main competitor in the industry was FW Tornbergs who were located at Gustav Adolf Square, where also was the popular meeting place of a tower clock before it was moved to Nybroplan in1914.
